Mr. Carmack gave once again an exclusive track to Joe Kay to be played on his latest Soulection Radio Show #184 with J-Louis and Andres. The Tracklist to the show hasn’t been posted yet, but I’m pretty sure the new Carmack tune is called ‘Say Knowledge’ which is the Instrumental to the previous tune he released on his Birthday titled ‘Hammer Say Knowledge’, but it’s been taken down by Soundcloud due to Copyright Infringement.
Image Hosted by
Two days ago, Carmack revealed via Instagram, that he wants to release a very special Flexidisc of Two Unreleased tracks by Djemba Djemba and him for the Vancouver August 30th Show, and the tune he’ll release is called ‘Say Knowledge’. I managed to rip this version from the Soulection Radio Show, check it out below with the Original track.

Mr. Carmack At îleSoniq Music Festival In Canada (2014)

Image Hosted by
If there is one metropolis that knows the meaning of chaos, you'll likely find it in Montreal. Last weekend, 35,000 people flocked to Parc Jean Drapeau for îleSoniq, a two day festival. IleSoniq's line up listed international artists like Kill The Noise, Laidback Luke, Tiesto, Infected Mushroom, Iggy Azelea, Juicy J, and more. Several local Montreal musicians played as well, such as Adventure Club, Andru, and Botnek.

IleSoniq's entire lineup hosted a range of musicians from all over, which made picking favourite performances more difficult. Yet each act has been valued and below are five artists whose sets stuck out significantly. Undoubtably one of the most mad shows on Friday was Mr. Carmack's slaughter of the Neon Stage. This Honolulu native has kept himself busy this summer with festival appearances and after parties.
Image Hosted by
At IleSoniq his set consisted of classic tracks like "Pay (For What)" and "Fire (No Payroll)" to his new material that he's littered his Soundcloud with. I had the chance to speak with him behind stage and ask Aaron a few things. The reason he always deletes his songs is because he has never payed for Pro on Soundcloud. Forever keepin' it real: Carmack.

Mr. Carmack - Lovetakestwo (Rosebud Leach Vocal Edit) (14')

Mr. Carmack Has Something To Say

Image Hosted by “I've travelled 230,000 miles this year alone. Made new friends all over the world, made a little money to save, made a life I've never even dreamed of, all because I made a 3 year plan to organize my obsession with music, back in 2011. Now I'm very unorganized and I need help, but I still work to enjoy every second I have here. I have a lot of music in me, and I hope y'all continue to listen. Thanks”

Mr. Carmack x EarMilk.Com Interview

Image Hosted by By Isabel Kim. Not only because his beats are otherworldly, practically indescribable and inexplicable, but because the success he has achieved this past year was not the result of media blasts nor major label backing, but was simply the honorable outcome of true passion, hard work, and most importantly, his rare, raw talent. To think that a little over a year ago, he was a dishwasher in Hawaii.

Now, he is at the forefront of the hip-hop and electronic scene, affiliated with innovative labels and collectives like TeamSupreme, Soulection, and Mad Decent. Isabel Kim was fortunate enough to catch the busy guy at HARD and chat for a little bit. That is, after spending five tireless hours trying to find him in a park that happened to be the Bermuda Triangle for cell service. What I'm trying to say: So worth it!

Carmack carries a sincere and charismatic energy, and despite my brief time with him, I could tell he is one of the most down-to-earth guys. He is just doing what he loves, bullshit aside, and we love him for it. Carmack is on tour now with Djemba Djemba, so mark your calendars! Check out the short promo video below, get tickets, and get excited.

EARMILK: So, how was your HARD experience?
Mr. Carmack: Good, good... festivals are interesting.

EM: Is it what you expected?
MC: Yeah, it was definitely. I wish I went to HARD in like 2007/2008.

EM: What is the weirdest thing a fan has said, or the weirdest experience you've had with a fan?
MC: Umm… A girl told me to sign her tits.

EM: Did you do it?
MC: Yeah, of course. I’d do anything for my fans.

EM: I saw that your birthday just passed this week, how did you celebrate it?
MC: I spent 14 hours in the studio, and I smoked an eighth of weed.

A Message From Mr. Carmack

Image Hosted by Making a breakthrough using the internet as an artist 5 years ago, you either had the method: creating for the purpose of "going viral" and creating unprecedented hype at record speed; or you had whats always been the ideal: creating for the sole purpose of the advancement of the integrity of music itself, using the internet as a vehicle.

With soundcloud and bandcamp, seemingly unbiased databases for music that welcome and encourage independence in music... merging the two, the method and the ideal is not only possible, but its become the "cool" thing again!

the passion is there: to create and/or to seek the most beautiful piece, the craziest piece, the saddest piece, the ratchetest piece of music on the internet that connects with you, and share it with a huge and ever growing network of listeners and artists all over the world youve helped create.

You can create a sound for yourself! And if you're not artistically inclined, but you aren't satisfied with what the mainstream has you hear, I implore you to not rest till you find that sound! Please!

money is irrelevant.

does this make sense?

Mr. Carmack Collaborates With Beat Mob

Image Hosted by
By Justene Taua. Since Red Bull Studio Auckland shifted across town from its original location on Hargreaves St in Freemans Bay to its new home in Red Bull HQ in Grey Lynn, the space has been a hive of activity, with in-house engineer Ben Lawson working solidly with artists from David Dallas to A$AP Ferg; The Wyld to Third3ye; @Peace to John Newman. And unlike any other studio in Auckland City, this is a world-class facility that can’t be hired – if you get the invite to work here, good music gets made and no money changes hands. Simple as that.

The latest invitees to take charge of the control room are San Francisco-born, Hawaii-based beatmaker Mr. Carmack and Wellington Red Bull Sound Select production talent Beat Mob aka Artur Aldridge, heard most recently via his Eastern Bloc partnership with Wellington club mainstay, DJ Marek. Just a day after Carmack and Aldridge first met when they played the Capital’s Boat Cafe, the two beatsmiths are residents at Red Bull Studio Auckland for a one-day Soundselect session.

Jerry Poon, my friend who helped get this Australia/New Zealand tour together, came to me a couple of weeks back and said, ‘Do you want to do a couple of hours of work in Auckland with a local producer?’,” says Carmack, hovering over the laptop that he’s been trading ideas from. “I didn’t actually get this guy’s name until Saturday! I just dealt with it on a whim – like, if it happens, it happens. And it happens to be that we’re here.”
Image Hosted by
The plan to form this Mr. Carmack x Beat Mob alliance was cooked up between Madcap Music’s Haydn Middleton and Red Bull Culture Marketing Specialist Dan Woolston, who partnered on the Madcap-curated Sound Select back in February. That plan was only announced to Aldridge after a recent Rustie after party at his flat, a reveal that had the Wellington producer reeling. Now, just a week and a half later, he’s already seeing results from this beatmaking master class.

“I’m just grateful that I can spend some time getting to know a person whose music I care about,” says Aldridge. Mr. Carmack’s definitely been influential to my process – what I DJ and what I associate with good dance music. Whether it’s been him giving tips about how to make my drums sound better or helping me out with a remix, this whole collaboration’s been awesome.”

“My favourite part is that we haven’t really been talking about the process – the process just unfolds,” Carmack adds. “Sometimes we play music for each other; sometimes we play music together. We’re vibing out, with none of the time pressure you’d have at other studios. That’s been the best bit of this whole day.”

Mr. Carmack - Hanau Makana (EP) (2014)
